Design Process

💡 We interviewed 26 parents and gathered quotes, highlighting key pain points:

  • Difficulty using the activity tracking app, especially during diaper changes or feedings.

  • Challenges in interpreting baby cues, leading to uncertainty when responding to cries.

  • Struggles with capturing their baby’s smile.

Our Three Key Research Objectives Are to

  1. To understand the developmental stages of babies from birth to 2 years old.

  2. To discover existing technologies and products, and identify white space and opportunities through competitive analysis.

  3. To identify common concerns and needs of new parents.

What Do Parents Want and Need?

Proposal:

By using AI, facial recognition, and cry analysis technologies, we can better care for our baby.

To increase customer stickiness of this app, we introduced several valuable features

  • Daily Patterns: Huggle will Analyze the baby's weekly data and activities to generate daily patterns and provide parents with insights.

  • Voice Interaction: Use voice activation to track baby activities and control the monitor, simplifying the process of toggling the app on and off.

  • Memory Album: Automatically create a memory album by capturing various baby facial expressions and fun moments through videos and pictures using the monitor.

Amy and Alex, first-time parents to their 15-week-old baby girl Emma, are navigating the joys and challenges of parenthood together, with Amy as the primary caregiver. They’re using Huggle AI to support their journey. Watch the video to see how it’s helping them.

With Huggle, Amy and Alex can now simplify the process of caring for Emma, get advice and insights about her daily activities, and not worry about forgetting things.

What I learned 🌱

With this project, I gained valuable insights into baby milestones, the challenges parents face, and the difficulties in caring for a baby by conducting interviews with parents. For the next step, I plan to conduct further research on new technologies and address current limitations, partner with experts, and continue gathering user feedback to enhance and improve the app.
